SEEK
THE CITY TO COME
- May 22, 2024 -
The Archdiocesan final
Seek The City To Come report was released today, and...
Sadly, our
beloved, beautiful church is Not among those to remain open.
Please say prayers.
Let us pray and be with each other for the weeks and months to come.
We will continue to have Mass during this time.
We will also host an Organ Historical Society Convention
as well as rededicate the organ with a solo organ recital, hopefully
in September.
If you have any questions or
concerns, please call the office and speak with
Fr. Carrion or Fr. Ponton.

Reflection
In this
Sunday’s Gospel there comes from the wilderness a disruptive voice
calling God’s people back to faithful relationship. While John the
Baptist criticizes the hypocritical and the entitled, he is also
making, on God’s behalf, an invitation to all to make a move or a
return to the God who is always calling to us, often through the
prophetic voices, the human voices around us.
This weekend, your pastor, Fr. Jack Lombardi, will be returning to
western Maryland to serve as pastor there. I will remain as
administrator for the foreseeable future, and we will continue to be
blessed with a cohort of priest-celebrants for the Sunday and
weekday Masses. I understand news of Fr. Jack’s change in assignment
will be met in different ways by different parishioners. I ask that
all of us keep him and the success of his ministries in our prayers,
and that we all try to continue to come together in responding to
God’s call to repentance and preparation, hallmarks of the Advent
season.
On a personal note, I thank all of you who have been so welcoming
and supportive to me. It has been a great joy to get to know these
parishes and the extraordinary persons who enliven them. Part of
preparing for Jesus’ return is building communities that support
disciples and that witness, prophetically and to a wider world, to
Christ’s invitation to relationship and restoration. As a
worshipping community, we should all endeavor to respond to and to
extend that invitation.
